{babes} Britney's Legal Tab Breaks the Bank

"Gimme More" isn't just a Britney Spears song title. It's her legal team's mantra.

According to court documents filed yesterday and obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the singer's estate has shelled out upwards—most likely, way upwards—of $2.7 million in legal fees for the first 11 months of her conservatorship.

Although it has been 14 months since the 27-year-old Spears was first placed under the court-ordered control of her father and an outside attorney, the fees from this year, already considerable thanks to ongoing litigation with Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib, have yet to be submitted to the court.

Per the documents, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Britney's six-figure and rising bounty has been divvied up among 17 lawyers and firms.

Attorneys representing father Jamie Spears submitted yesterday's filing. Among the line items was their own fee of $1 million. The figure, they claimed, reflected that the singer's mental health had continued "to mend," that she had regained "substantial visitation" with kids Sean Preston and Jayden James and that her once-waning career "has been revitalized" under their watchful—and expensive—eye.

"Since the initiation of the conservatorship, as a result of the concerted efforts of Mr. Spears as well as the professionals involved, all aspects of Ms. Spears' life have been stabilized and continue to improve," attorney Geraldine Wyle writes.

Wyle further backed the bill by adding that Spears continued to face "complex and challenging issues" which require outside counsel.

Here's a rundown of some of Spears' more notable legal costs:

• $460,000: Cost of divorce and custody proceedings with Kevin Federline
• $113,000: Cost of a Florida civil suit brought against Spears by her former manager
• $26,000: Cost of Spears' headline-grabbing driving without a California license trial
• $7,000: Cost of a legal dispute over mold in Spears' leased Malibu property
• $102,000: Cost of Jamie Spears' attorneys during the first six months of conservatorship
• $4,600: Cost to hire a private messenger service to confidentially deliver legal documents
• $25: Cost to reserve private courthouse for legal proceedings to avoid media coverage (in retrospect, money not so well spent)

Demi Moore has reached out to a terminally ill fan who plans to have cosmetic surgery to look like the actress before she dies - urging her not to go under the knife.

Brit Lisa Connell was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2006, and as a lifelong fan of the Ghost beauty, wants to splash $60,000 on surgery to transform herself into a Moore look-a-like.

Connell wants to undergo an extensive make-over before she succumbs to the disease, including liposuction, breast enhancement, an eyebrow lift and extensive dental and dermatological work.

In her blog, the 29-year-old explains, "Demi Moore is an absolutely stunning woman and it has been mentioned that I have similar features even before she had all that surgery done, back in the early days in the 1980s/90s she was just as stunning. If someone asks me who do I think is beautiful in the public eye I would have to say Demi Moore.

"People think I'm crazy for doing this, but I know it will make my last months or years happier."

Now, Moore has reacted to Connell's aesthetic ambitions, begging her to rethink her surgery plans.

On her Twitter page, the star writes, "Wish I could contact this woman Lisa Connell who wants to have surgery to look like me & encourage her to not to! She is a beautiful girl!"

Moore is reported to have undergone a body overhaul in 2004 - allegedly spending $308,000 on a head-to-toe surgical makeover.

{babes} Madonna's nanny quits

The woman charged with looking after Madonna's adopted son David has quit - amid rumours of tensions with her superstar employer.

The Australian child-care worker, known only as Angela, is believed to have been working for the pop singer in New York, taking care of three-year-old David, who was adopted from Malawi in 2006.

Angela is said to have handed in her resignation earlier this month, but was instructed to leave immediately without completing her notice period, according to British newspaper the Mail on Sunday.

The news comes after the singer recently admitted she is considering adopting another child from the African country.

A source tells the publication, "Angela is distraught. Madonna told her the news two hours before she was due to go on her annual month-long leave. Angela was incredibly upset and very surprised. The rumour is that Madonna was furious that Angela was leaving and dismissed her before she had the chance to complete her full notice. No one knows how she will cope without a nanny. She depends on her staff very heavily."

A spokesman for Madonna adds, "I do not comment on household issues but I can assure you that David and Madonna's other two children are very well taken care of at all times."

Madonna is also mother to 12-year-old Lourdes and Rocco, eight.

{babes} Zvonareva clinches WTA title at Indian Wells

INDIAN WELLS, California, March 22 (Reuters) - Fourth-seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva won the biggest title of her career by beating defending champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia 7-6 6-2 in Sunday's final of the WTA event at Indian Wells.

Playing more consistently in difficult gusting winds at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Zvonareva reeled off six games in a row in the second set to wrap up victory in just under two hours.

"Thanks to all of you for coming out today and staying with us in this crazy weather," a smiling Zvonareva, 24, said in a courtside interview.

Both players, battling with service tosses, were broken twice in the opening set. The Russian saved three set points in the 12th game before holding serve and taking the tiebreak 7-5 after fifth-seeded Ivanovic netted a forehand.

Although the elegant Serb hit a rasping backhand winner down the line to break Zvonareva in the first game of the second set before holding serve to lead 2-0, her resistance quickly folded.

The Russian world number six broke Ivanovic in the fourth, sixth and eighth games to clinch her ninth WTA singles title one day after claiming the women's doubles crown here with Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.

Although Zvonareva hit only five winners in the windy conditions, she limited her unforced errors to 23.

Ivanovic, who hammered Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4 6-3 in last year's final, struggled throughout the match, piling up 46 unforced errors and five double faults.

"Honestly, it was the toughest conditions I ever played in," the Serb told reporters. "It was very, very windy and it wasn't much about the game and a game plan today.

"It was just who can handle the conditions better and who can stay mentally tougher through it. Today she did. She played really well.

"It was very hard to control the ball," the former world number one said. "Some points I just didn't believe. I tried to go for some shots but it was very hard to adjust to all the wind.

"So many times I just didn't make enough steps to move forward; then the other times I was too much forward and had to move back. It was just very hard to judge where the ball would bounce and where the ball will end up."

{babes} Funeral Services Held for Natasha Richardson

Family and friends of Natasha Richardson said their final farewells to the late actress Sunday afternoon during a small, private funeral held near her Millbrook home in upstate New York.

Approximately 40 people gathered for the services, including her husband, actor Liam Neeson; their two sons, Michael and Daniel; mother Vanessa Redgrave; sister Joely Richardson; and longtime friend and fellow actor Ralph Fiennes, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Richardson died on Wednesday at the age of 45 due from a head injury she suffered while skiing in Canada.

The funeral began after the family arrived in a police-escorted motorcade at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lithgow, where Neeson and her sons are members. Wearing a dark suit and sunglasses, Neeson helped carry his wife's casket into the tiny white church.
 
Natasha is expected to be buried at nearby St. Peter's cemetery where her maternal grandmother Rachel Kempson was buried in 2003. Kempson passed away while visiting her granddaughter.

Ten police officers were stationed outside the church where more than two dozen reporters and onlookers had quietly gathered. Despite the threat of protests from Kansas City-based Westboro Baptist Church, which opposes Richardson's support for AIDS research, the scene was calm and no protestors were present.

{babes} United States of Tara: "Sometimes Real Life Isn't PG"

Showtime's United States of Tara tackles fresh territory with its portrayal of a woman with dissociative identity disorder (DID, played by Toni Collette) through the prism of a suburban family. TVGuide.com spoke with co-writer Alexa Junge (Friends, West Wing) and Brie Larson (who plays Tara's daughter, Kate) on how the show balances quirky moments and the delicate subject material, what it was like working with the show's creator and co-writer, Diablo Cody, and why real life isn't PG.

On their first reactions to the script:
Alexa Junge: When I read it I thought, 'this is so lovely' ... dissociative identity disorder is not a frivolous topic at all, and yet I felt it had a kind of light touch that I think is actually inspiring in the long run, so it felt like it was really rich material.
Brie Larson: It seemed shocking at first, and so incredible I didn't think it could be real. ... I also thought at first that it was odd, because you never see a family who just deals with it. [Something like DID] always has to become a huge plot point, and it breaks up the family, and there's all this turmoil and drama. But it's not the case in this script. There are times when people get their feelings hurt ... but, at the end of the day, it's not even the main topic of their lives.

On how Junge approached the writing:
Junge: [Cody] said that one of things that attracted her to this — and I think it was part of [executive producer Steven] Spielberg's original attraction as well — is that it's a metaphor for the ways that women have to be different people to get by. You have different parts of yourself... the mother part, the girlfriend part, the work part. I think, initially, when she first broke down the alters, they were connected to her looking at that aspect. ...What I learned, and what coincides understandably with that, is that in every situation like this, every alter has a purpose in this system — a psychological purpose. ... [Diablo] had set it up intuitively in a way that fit with these things that happen. And then we were able to flesh it out. 

On how Larson approached her role:
Larson: My main concern was no one wants to watch an annoying teenager on TV. Everyone has one at home. So, I wanted to make sure that even in those times when [Kate] was annoying, you knew where it was coming from. You have to think of each alter as  a completely different human being, and I decided different backstories for [them], to learn why I liked each one. ... [I was] trying to ... show the audience how important each alter is, and how they change the dynamic of the household.  

On which alters were more challenging to work on (and with) than others:
Junge: They each have their own unique challenges. Not just the alters, but good writing, to keep the characters dimensional. What's interesting, too, is that you start to uncover who knows what, and how much they all know about each other. That's actually why I made the decision that we needed to stay close to the four for the first season ... because what we were trying to do was help people invest in them, and feel like they could relate to them and love them and get the rules. ... And then we can really, hopefully, move around and open it up a little bit.
Larson: There's an alter [who appeared later in the show who] was the hardest for all of us, because she [was] still extremely unknown to everyone in the family. You have these alters that you've been dealing with that you understand, and then...

On balancing the show's light moments with a heavy situation:
Junge: I feel like there are almost no families anymore that are, quote unquote, normal. We think of [Tara's] disorder as a way of looking at normal family life, as opposed to her being some kind of oddity or butt of the joke. ... We couldn't just do 'Here comes the funny episode this week,' we had to create a mythology and almost a mystery element to keep the viewer interested in her, and what's actually so beautiful from a storytelling standpoint is that the character's trying to find out what made her the way she is as much as the viewer is, so that makes it a heroic journey.
Larson: It's refreshing to be a family that, through all these mishaps and weird circumstances, we all have this great love for one another. And the family does, 100 percent, stick by [Tara's] side.

On pushing the envelope ... and the public's reaction to the show:
Junge: We're hoping it's a prism for normal life. The thing about [DID] is that people don't really know about it. They have their ideas about it if they're old enough to remember Sybil or the The Three Faces of Eve. ... I'm hoping my job is to take people through the same process that I've been through, in terms of not seeing it as an outsider, but being able to look inside of it.
Larson: That's the best part! ... Pushing the envelope — I don't think it's anything new, maybe pushing it to a surface that people haven't seen before. It's just real life, and sometimes real life isn't PG.

{babes} Ursula Andress, first-ever Bond girl, promoting osteoporosis awareness

MONTREAL - Daniel Craig is a fine actor, says Ursula Andress, the very first Bond girl

But for Andress, like many James Bond diehards, Sean Connery is still No. 1.

Andress achieved pop culture icon status when she dropped 007's jaw as she strode out of the surf in a bikini in 1962's "Dr. No."

"Daniel Craig is a very good actor," Andress said in an interview Friday. "Whatever he does, he does it very well.

"But my James Bond is Sean Connery."

"Dr. No" was the first Bond movie made from the thrilling spy novels by Ian Fleming. Connery, a suave Scot, was the first actor to play him on the big screen and became an icon in the role.

However, Andress set the standard for the Bond girls to follow when she played the tough and sexy Honey Ryder.

Andress smiles fondly when she's asked about Connery, famous for his gruff and tough roles.

"He's a lovely man. The fabulous thing about Sean is I met him in 1962 and he stayed the same man, the same person. He has not changed with all the success.

"He actually became very good-looking with age. He looks very good and he's a very good friend of mine."

But the Swiss actress, who turns 73 next week, is taking on a more insidious villain these days than Dr. No.

The woman who made moviegoing men weak in the knees is campaigning to raise awareness about osteoporosis, a potentially crippling bone disease that strikes one out of four women aged 50 and more and affects about two million Canadians.

Andress wants women to be aware of their bone health and discuss osteoporosis as part of their annual check-ups.

She was diagnosed with osteoporosis about eight years ago and says not much is written about the illness. Doctors don't highlight it as much as they do other diseases such as cancer or high blood pressure, she complained.

And while her focus was on women on Friday, she was quick to point out that the disease strikes men too.

"It's like a sort of silent thief who comes along and takes away the health of your bones and then you cannot make the bone become healthy again or strong," she said. "It's too late."

She warned people that they can't cure it with just calcium and vitamin D. They need proper medication.

A relieved squeak punctuates Andress' Swedish accent when she's asked how she's dealing with her own osteoporosis. She has always been active and looked spry at the news conference.

"Thank God I did the test and thank God I found out in time before it's impinging on your heath or your movement," she said.

"I can run, I can swim, I can ski, I can horseback - I can do everything," she said. "But if I had waited 10 years. . . ."

She said there's no pain to tip people off that there might be something wrong.

"You don't have any pain at all. That's what is so dangerous."

An Osteoporosis Canada survey released at the news conference indicated a change in atitude among osteoporosis sufferers, most of whom don't see themselves as frail.

Doctors polled don't share the view, the survey indicated.

Robert Allard, a spokesman with Osteoporosis Canada, wants people to be informed.

"With this initiative, we hope to educate Canadians about the seriousness of osteoporosis but also remind them that with appropriate therapy, you can continue life to the fullest," he said.

And get tested early, Andress insisted.

"Do the test to find out if your bones are healthy and strong and then you say, 'Thank God, girl.' And if not, talk to your doctor about how to cure it."

{babes} Oprah: Rihanna doesn't feel worthy

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has blamed low self-esteem for Rihanna's decision to reconcile with boyfriend Chris Brown.

Brown is facing felony charges of assault and making criminal threats following an altercation with the Umbrella hitmaker last month.

Rihanna reportedly split with the Kiss Kiss singer following the incident, but then revived their romance after spending time together at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' home in Miami, Florida.

Winfrey, who urged Rihanna not to reunite with Brown, has slammed the reconciliation as a mistake and puts the singer's decision down to feelings of inadequacy.

She says, "Let me tell you why she (Rihanna) got back with him (Brown). If you go back with a man who hits you, it is because you don't feel worthy of being with a man who doesn't hit you.

"If you think you are a wonderful person, somebody hitting you is really offensive to you."

Winfrey recently teamed up with fellow talk show host Tyra Banks to make a show dealing exclusively with the issue of domestic violence, dedicating the programme to "all the Rihannas of the world."

{babes} Alice Eve rises to acting career

Alice Eve is a British actress and she's beautiful and no surprises there -- she's the daughter of two other good-looking British actors, Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan.

Given that family history, five years of solid film work and a starring role in the new movie, Crossing Over, it is surprising when Eve, 27, says she's only recently decided that acting will be her work.

"I guess the whole thing just crept up on me," she says.

" I never really took it on as an adult until, well, weird thing to say, but only in the last year. I've realized that it's something I want to do and want to pursue. Just in the last year I've really seen what the world is, and what the business is, and it has shortcomings and massive penalties. But in that year, I've decided I genuinely love it."

Eve is part of the strong ensemble cast in Crossing Over, a Wayne Kramer directed film that tells connected stories about a handful of immigrants hoping to live and work in America.

Eve holds her own alongside Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd. Actually, she does more than that. In the role of an Australian actress who gets manipulated into trading sexual favours for a green card, she's the best thing in the movie.

Eve got her start at 13 when she played Olivia in a production of Twelfth Night.

"I don't remember any parental influence," she says of her career. "I just remember going through wanting to be a vet, and then an archeologist, and all the normal routes you take as a girl.

"I guess I trusted them and respected their opinion as artists, and when I did that part in Twelfth Night they both seemed so happy. And they were like, 'Oh, you were so good,' and I thought, 'Wow, I can do something!' and that was a nice feeling."

Her professional career began when she was a student at Oxford. Eve got an agent and looked for work she could do in the summer, and quickly found a role in Richard Eyre's Stage Beauty. She has since appeared in Starter For 10 and Big Loser, among other projects, and she'll star in She's Out Of My League, opposite Jay Baruchel, next year.

The actress has two younger brothers, aged 14 and 23. The older one is at RADA and intent upon a career in theatre, and the younger one is a musician. On her own time, she's an avid horsewoman and she used to play polo.

"But it's dangerous. I used to be fearless, before I was aware of the dangers. I used to fly over the front of the horse into the bush, and bounce back. I don't know what I was thinking."

She's also a writer, and is currently working on two screenplays, one on her own and one with her boyfriend, who is a poet. He lives in England. She lives in England and Los Angeles.

"Living in L.A. can be very difficult," she concedes. "In the last year or two, I've become accustomed to being on my own, and in a positive way rather than being isolated or lonely. I've actually learned to enjoy being on my own.

"In L.A., if you're needy or need company, that's not a great situation. If you're content to let the city be your friend -- Red Hot Chili Peppers, you know -- it actually can be quite a rewarding place."

Eve works next in England. She'll play Roxanne in Trevor Nunn's staging of Cyrano de Bergerac, opposite Joseph Fiennes.

"I'm excited about that," she says. "It's a real grown-up part."

The couple, who got engaged just last month, tied the knot in Savannah, Ga., Moore's rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The singer-actress, 24, and Adams, 34, applied for a marriage license on Tuesday afternoon at the Chatham County Probate office in Savannah, according to a court source, who adds that the famous couple went unrecognized.

Moore tells Marie Claire in its April issue that her now rocker husband is "a good egg. I'm in awe of him: his brain, his passion. He's truly one of a kind."

Perez Hilton was the first to report news of the marriage.

Jennifer Aniston still loves her ex-husband Brad Pitt - and hopes the pair can be "good friends again" in the future.

But even though she found the break up incredibly painful, Aniston admits she looks back on her failed marriage with fond memories.

Melanie Chisholm is showing off the new spice in her life – the first pictures of her newborn daughter.

Chisholm, who gave birth to Scarlet Starr last month, posted the baby photo on her MySpace Celebrity profile Tuesday, and writes on her Web site that she's "hopeful that any media interest will be satisfied and future privacy respected."

Scarlet is the first child for Chisholm, 35, and her partner of six years, Thomas Starr. She plans to donate any proceeds from the picture, published on the cover of the U.K.'s Hello! magazine, to charity.

{babes} Ailing Mariska Hargitay Taking Breather From SVU

Mariska Hargitay's case requires more special attention than she first thought.

The Law & Order: SVU star will miss a few weeks of work after undergoing a second surgery to address complications from the collapsed lung she suffered in January, a rep for NBC confirmed Monday to E! News.

"She is feeling better and should be back in a couple of weeks," the network said.

Hargitay, 45, was hospitalized last week with chest pains, which her publicist said were related to her prior condition.

Though she originally wasn't expected to miss any work, doctors have advised the Emmy winner to rest up. However, per EW.com, Det. Olivia Benson is only expected to be MIA for one episode.

"My personal thought is she just needs to take a little time and rest," Ice-T, whose character will fill in for Hargitay's in her absence, told People of his SVU costar. "I mean, it's a serious thing. You can't just come right back. You'll reinjure yourself."

Not that Hargitay isn't a tough cookie.

"Mariska is the type of woman that if you walk up and say, 'How are you?' She's almost like a guy and is like, 'Yeah, yeah, I'm all right,'" added Ice-T.

"It's almost as if you insult her. She doesn't want you to feel sorry for her, she's like, 'I'm on my feet.'"

After years of romantic comedies, Drew Barrymore is tapping into difficult places in her psyche for her next role.

"I was excited to bring my own pain to something," Barrymore, 34, who plays "Little Edie" Beal in HBO's Grey Gardens airing in April, tells W magazine. "I mean, contrary to my happy-go-luckiness, I have so much darkness in there."

To prepare for playing Beal, a former society beauty with acting dreams who ended up living in squalor with only her overbearing mother, Barrymore drew on memories. "I got institutionalized as a kid, and I felt like I was back there," she says. "A lot of times I found myself unhappy and isolated, and the only other time I felt that way was when I was in there."

Barrymore found it especially liberating to be able to focus on herself for a change. "I like making people feel good, but it was great not to have to please anybody," she says. "I was out there for myself and for her."

The also opens up about her five-year relationship with The Strokes' drummer Fabrizio Moretti, calling it "one of the most, if not the most, important relationships I've had in my life. We're still very close."

To those Internet reports claiming M.I.A. named her 3-week-old boy Ickitt, the rapper responds: Ick!

In a humorous message on her MySpace Celebrity Blog, the "Paper Planes" songstress shot down the rumors while poking fun at a few of the more unique names bestowed upon certain celebrity kids.

"MY BABY IS NOT CALLED ICKITT, PICKIT OR LICKIT THANK YOU VERY MUCH, " she writes. "HES A BABY, HE DONT NEED PRESS!"

Explaining that she doesn't consider her son's name to be newsworthy information, M.I.A., 31, says she'll be back with something for her fans soon. "TILL THEN GO PICK ON APPLE, SATCHEL AND MOON UNIT," she suggests.

{babes} Jewel's Dancing Advice to Holly: "Pace Yourself!"

Jewel's doctor couldn't have been more clear when he told her to quit Dancing With the Stars.

"He said, 'You're done,'" Jewel says. "You're not going to dance and you're not going to walk! You're on crutches."

It was announced today that the singer was stepping away from the eighth season of DWTS because her training has left her with fractured tibiae in both legs. She'll be on crutches for about six weeks. (Also out because of leg injuries is Access Hollywood cohost Nancy O'Dell.)

I caught up with Jewel this afternoon before her gig tonight in Highland, CA. Yes, she planned to perform sitting down...

"My doctor said under no circumstances could I continue because if the fractures get worse we were looking at longterm damage like arthritis at a young age or pins in my legs," Jewel said. "Neither of those were an option."

She first told her professional bullrider husband Ty Murray, who is also competing this season on DWTS, the bad news and then she had to break it to her dance partner Dmitry Chaplin. "I dreaded telling my partner," she said. "He and I were so well matched. We got along so great. We were so into it."

Chaplin will now be dancing with Girl Next Door Holly Madison, which I exclusively confirmed with Hugh Hefner earlier today.

Jewel hasn't spoken to Madison yet, but she does have some advice for the buxom blonde: "Listen to your dance partner, don't have an attitude and pace yourself."

Jewel says she has every intention of making a comeback. Not only does she intend to sing a song or two from her upcoming album, Lullaby, this season, but she actually wants to dance again. "Hopefully, they'll have me back and team me up with Dmitry again so we can finish what we started," she said. "I'll just need to go slower next time."

Zoe McClellan sure knows how to keep good company. During her run on ABC's Dirty Sexy Money — where she shared scenes with the likes of Peter Krause and Blair Underwood — the actress made time for Reunion, an indie also starring Brett Cullen (Damages), Jamey Sheridan (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Amy Pietz (Aliens in America). TVGuide.com spoke with McClellan about the ensemble piece (which revolves around a bombshell-filled gathering of former members of a Yale secret society), as well as when Dirty Sexy fans might expect to see Lisa, Nick and the gang again.

TVGuide.com: Reunion is such an ensemble piece. Was that a big draw for you?
Zoe McLellan: Absolutely. When my agent told me about the cast they had already set in place, I was pretty blown away. The table read was actually pretty incredible — we felt like we could put it up on stage that day! 

TVGuide.com: Have you ever done anything like this, reunite with a bunch of former classmates and reflect on old times?
McLellan: I have not. In fact, I totally wimped out on my 10-year high-school reunion.

TVGuide.com: It just seems like a recipe for disaster. You may come away with some self-introspection, sure, but there could also be some rude awakenings, as we see in the movie.
McLellan: Yeah, definitely. I'd feel like the pressure is on! 

TVGuide.com: Besides, in today's day and age, you can "reunite" with people on, like, Facebook. In fact, I have "Simon Elder" as one of my Friends.
McLellan: Do you really? Nice. I'm not doing Facebook, but I have a MySpace [page].

TVGuide.com: Were you as sad as I was when Dirty Sexy Money got axed?
McLellan: Of course! We were shocked actually. But we had such start-stop momentum with the strike, and there were various show runners.... We just didn't have that continuous, constant run. 

TVGuide.com: But it was getting so frothy and fast-moving!
McLellan: I know. We were just taking off, and then it was over. It ended way too soon.

TVGuide.com: Lisa was just becoming her own woman, really.
McLellan: She sure was. [Laughs] 

TVGuide.com: What was coming up for her?
McLellan: I don't know what I can reveal, because [the final episodes] may still air. I don't want to ruin any surprises. 

TVGuide.com: I actually got an email from someone in the Philippines saying that they are getting the unaired episodes this month, ahead of the United States.
McLellan: Really? That's interesting. Huh. [A spokesperson for ABC's international distribution denies any such premiere plan.]

TVGuide.com: So, the plan is for ABC to burn them off this summer?
McLellan: Yeah, that's the last I've heard — and then they'll go to DVD. 

TVGuide.com: It's been out there that in the finale, we find out who killed Nick's father.
McLellan: Yes, we do. Again, I can't reveal any Dirty Sexy secrets!

TVGuide.com: The last time I saw you was at last summer's TCA press tour, and you walked the red carpet with your hair all teased. I said to Blair Underwood, "She should totally wear her hair like that on the show."
McLellan: Yeah, I got in trouble for that hairdo. They were like, "OK, maybe that's you in your real life, but 'Lisa' needs to be more conservative." [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: Here's my theory on Lisa's hair: I think they made you keep it short because otherwise you'd look too much like Kate Walsh, and Private Practice at the time aired right before Dirty Sexy Money.
McLellan: First of all, that's the biggest compliment ever, because I think she's absolutely gorgeous. But that didn't have anything to do with it. When I auditioned for the show I had short hair, and they just wanted me to keep it that way. But who knows! Maybe Kate and I will play sisters one day on something.

TVGuide.com: What else do you have planned right now?
McLellan: I can't talk about it yet. There are things in the works, but I have learned to not speak up until you have it in writing. 

TVGuide.com: You're so doing that Sex in the City-with-werewolves pilot, aren't you?!
McLellan: Sex in the City with werewolves?! I haven't read that one — but it sounds interesting! Let's just put it this way: I'm keeping busy.

Jake Owen and Miranda Lambert performed Thursday (March 5) at the Sony BMG luncheon during Country Radio Seminar at the Nashville Convention Center. {babes} Jessica Simpson to perform in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — On the heels of Britney Spears' Circus concert debut in New Orleans comes a performance Friday by pop star-turned-country music singer Jessica Simpson.

Simpson brings to the Big Easy the tail end of a two-month tour in which she opens for the country music group Rascal Flatts and is expected to perform songs from her debut country album, Do You Know.

The concert will be held at the New Orleans Arena, the venue occupied earlier this week by Spears for the launch of her first concert tour in five years.

Laurel Hess, the arena's event coordinator, said Thursday that Spears and Simpson are the latest in a host of big-name artists to perform at the venue this year.

Since January, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Brad Paisley, the Eagles and Motley Crue have all performed there. The arena also recently hosted the Harlem Globetrotters and the Big Easy Blues Festival, which featured Mel Waiters, Bobby Blue Bland, Floyd Taylor and Shirley Brown.

"It's great to be getting all this attention," Hess said.

She said she doesn't know what to attribute the recent spike in concert activity to except "good timing." The arena is the site for the home games of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets.

Friday's concert will be the second in New Orleans in two years for Rascal Flatts, which also performed at the arena in February 2008.

Simpson headlined her own show there in June 2004. Later that year she returned to Louisiana for her first movie project, The Dukes of Hazzard, which was filmed in New Orleans and other parts of South Louisiana and released in August 2005.

Simpson played Daisy Duke in the movie, which was based on the popular TV series that originally aired on CBS in 1979. Simpson also appeared on the film's soundtrack, releasing These Boots Are Made for Walkin', a cover of the 1966 Nancy Sinatra hit.

Simpson has opened her concert with that song several times during this current tour.

Do You Know is Simpson's fifth studio album but her first in the country genre. She co-wrote eight of the album's 11 songs, which include the ballad Still Don't Stop Me, the religious-based Pray Out Loud and the love song to her Dallas Cowboys quarterback boyfriend Tony Romo, You're My Sunday.

It was unclear whether Romo would be attending Simpson's concert Friday. The couple has been dating since 2007 and he's been spotted at several of her other performances.

The tour has already hit more than 20 cities since launching in Kansas City, Mo., on Jan. 17. After New Orleans, it heads to Phoenix and San Diego before ending in Irvine, Calif., on March 14.

A spokeswoman for Simpson said the starlet was not available for interviews.

Upcoming concerts at the New Orleans Arena include the rock band Nickelback on April 17 and the rock groups Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick on Aug. 18.

Hess said concerts are a boon for the city and state.

"The more shows we get, the more promoters will pay attention to the area and see that we can draw a crowd, even in these hard economic times," she said.

{babes} Braxton impersonator sparks riot

R&B singer Toni Braxton is threatening to sue concert promoters in South America after they conned fans into attending a show purportedly featuring the star - only to discover the headliner was an "imitation act".

The Unbreak My Heart hitmaker was reportedly touted to play a gig in the Republic of Suriname last Friday night, but the crowd turned violent in the early hours of Saturday when devotees realized they had been duped - and an impersonator, named Trina Johnson, was singing instead.

According to local reports, fans began rioting and threw bottles at the stage, before looting bars at the show's venue.

Johnson, who had to be rescued by security guards, was left stunned by the chaos - because she insists her contract specifically states she was hired as an "imitation act" and was unaware concert-goers were led to think otherwise.

Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the event hoax, but the gig promoter, Angel Ventura from Events 4 Suriname, and his assistant have disappeared, fleeing without paying local sponsors, organizations and stage personnel hired for the concert.

Police spokesman Humphrey Naarden says, "This is a clear cut case of fraud."

And Braxton is consulting with lawyers to file an official complaint against the promotions company for "victimizing" her fans.

A representative for the star tells TMZ.com, "Toni Braxton is aware of what happened and is obviously displeased with what happened.

"She regrets that both she and her fans have been victimized by this hoax. Ms. Braxton's attorneys are exploring the legal ramifications."

Just hours after Chris Brown was charged with two felonies – assault and making criminal threats – in the alleged beating of his girlfriend, Rihanna, one of the Barbados-born pop star's relatives tells PEOPLE, "It's about time."

"He should be in jail," Rihanna's relative says of Brown, 19, who faces up to four years and eight months in state prison. "He deserves whatever he gets."

Contacted in Barbados, Rihanna's father reacted with surprise and displeasure to detailed reports leaked earlier today about the alleged bloody assault on his daughter.

"I was annoyed. I never hit my daughter," says Ronald Fenty, 55. "Why should he hit her? Why would any one do that? I was crazy, but I don't know the situation and I wasn't there."

Rihanna, 21, and Brown have gotten back together since the incident, much to the dismay of her family. "No one wants them back together, another relative told PEOPLE on Monday. "I don't ever want her to go through this again."

{babes} Chris Brown Arraignment Postponed for a Month

Chris Brown isn't ready to take a stand yet.

Clad in a grey suit and tie and looking humble before a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, the R&B star stood alongside lawyer Mark Geragos as the attorney requested a postponement of Brown's arraignment on felony charges for allegedly assaulting Rihanna on Feb. 8.

After watching Brown sign a waiver of presence, allowing his lawyer to act on his behalf instead, the judge agreed to postpone the proceedings until April 6.

"Mr. Brown, you are ordered not to annoy harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone," the judge instructed Brown.

Rihanna's legal camp, who referred to her as Ms. Fenty, said that no such order was needed on her behalf.

The 19-year-old chart topper is facing a maximum sentence of 56 months in prison if convicted on both counts, leveled at him earlier today, of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

L.A. police never formally identified Rihanna as the victim at the center of their domestic-violence investigation, but the sordid details of the case have been hard-pressed to remain under wraps from day one.

Law-enforcement sources had informed E! News that the L.A. District Attorney's Office, which just received the fruits of the LAPD's investigation yesterday, had been looking to make a felony case against Brown.

Family members and friends of Brown refused to talk to reporters as they entered the L.A. Criminal Justice Center through a backdoor at about 3:40 p.m.

We don't know where Rihanna was throughout these proceedings, but sources told E! News that the 21-year-old songstress was on Brown's private flight from Miami to Burbank Airport earlier this week after the two reconnected at Sean "Diddy" Comb's Star Island mansion in Miami Beach.

Britney Spears's comeback tour is getting rave reviews from those closest to the singer.

"Britney's whole family was there, her parents, [sister] Jamie Lynn, [brother] Bryan, his wife, her cousins [including] Laura Lynn [Covington], friends from Kentwood – everyone thought it was a fantastic show and she just nailed it," says a source close to Spears, referring to her kickoff concert Tuesday at the New Orleans Arena, the first stop on her 36-show tour.

Adds the source: "They all thought Britney was so amazing – her energy, her spirit."

Also in attendance: the singer's sons Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, and their dad Kevin Federline. "He was there to support her as well," says the source, adding that the boys stayed backstage because "it's just too loud for them to watch."

The Cirque du Soleil-style show, which also got the thumbs-up from fans, marks the pop star's first tour in five years. New Orleans was the first stop for Spears, 27, who hits Atlanta on Thursday, followed by 10 shows on the East Coast.

"The show was completely sold out and it was just incredible," says the source. "Britney was just really happy."

{babes} Jewel and Nancy O'Dell Withdraw from Dancing

Singer Jewel and Access Hollywood host Nancy O'Dell are withdrawing from participating in Dancing with the Stars, ABC announced Thursday.

Both women have suffered knee injuries during rehearsals in recent weeks. Jewel was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs, while O'Dell has a torn meniscus that will require surgery.

"Though we share in their disappointment that they can no longer continue, their physical well-being takes precedent above all else. We thank them both for giving it their all and wish them a quick and full recovery," Dancing Executive Producer Conrad Green said in a press release.

Their replacements will be announced on the season eight premiere on Monday, March 9 on ABC.

NEW YORK - "The Hills" will no longer be alive with the drama of Lauren Conrad - at least, after the fifth season.

The producer of the MTV reality series confirms Conrad is leaving "The Hills," and that season five, premiering March 30, will be Conrad's final appearance.

Liz Gately says Conrad wants to move forward and lead a more private life. Gately plans to give the 23-year-old fashion designer a big send-off, and is evaluating how to continue with the show following Conrad's departure.

"The Hills," which debuted in 2006, has followed Conrad as she struggles with man problems, career drama and friendship troubles.

MTV's cameras began rolling on Conrad when she was a high school student on "Laguna Beach" before graduating to "The Hills."

MONTREAL - This week, inside a swank Montreal restaurant-turned TV studio, 30 performers selected from bars across Quebec squared off head to head - and pole to pole - for provincial striptease supremacy.

Packaged into a four-episode series, "Pole Position Quebec" will hit pay TV in May, but the show's producer and host, Anne-Marie Losique, said she isn't stopping there.

Losique said a pan-Canadian competition - and possibly U.S. and European tilts - could soon follow.

"Eventually, we actually want to do a Canadian version because there are lots of stripteasers also in English Canada," said Losique, a TV star known for her scanty on-screen outfits, flirtatious personality and time spent on actor Ben Affleck's lap.

"The idea is really to put region against region and cities against cities to find the best dancer.

"In sports, you always have fans for Vancouver and fans for Toronto - I'm sure the people in Toronto like their Toronto girls."

The ladies vying for the "Pole Position Quebec" title duelled in 20 events. Details of the contests are guarded secrets, but the showdowns included strip-club classics such as pole and lap dances.

Losique, the daughter of Montreal World Film Festival founder Serge Losique, made international headlines a few years ago when videos of her groping-filled interview with Affleck surfaced on YouTube.

Throughout the 2004 interview, a giggly Losique sat on Affleck's lap while he snuggled up to her and went on - often using an unconvincing French accent - about her breasts and sex.

Losique has produced many TV programs, including "La Job," a Quebec version of the popular British show "The Office." She has also starred in the French-language take of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's hit show "The Simple Life" (La Vie Rurale).

But Losique, a longtime admirer of exotic dancers, said the Pole Position concept has been on her mind for years.

"Some girls do amazing stuff - upside down, holding with one hand, I mean I can barely lift myself on those things," Losique said on the show's set, which featured two poles side by side, a giant wall mirror and a massive disco ball hanging from the ceiling.

"The ones who do it well - (they're) gorgeous."

Kandy, a 19-year-old contestant, said it's all in the way you carry yourself.

"A smile, the way the person dances, if the person's original and just if the person's comfortable, because you see if you're not comfortable when you're dancing it's not worth it because it shows that you're not at ease," she said during a short break from the shoot.

What about your chances of taking the title?

"Well, if I'm here I think I do have a shot, but me I came here just to have fun and do a new experience," Kandy said.

The dancers represent strip joints from Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Berthierville, St-Hyacinthe, Longueuil and Mirabel.

Along with provincial bragging rights, the winner earns a trip to a southern destination and several other prizes.

Quebec stand-up comics Michel Sigouin and Guy Bernier joined four out-of-province Canadian strippers on the panel of judges.

"It's pretty funny, it's one of the funniest gigs we ever got, that's for sure," Sigouin said. "But the show's pretty nice, I think the guys are going to like it."

Asked how he thinks he got the job, Sigouin replied: "I guess my reputation as a perv has preceded me, I don't know."

he Material Girl is getting called out for her use of materials.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has named Madonna the worst-dressed celebrity of 2009, reports Usmagazine.com.

"When you see Madonna in fur, you realize why nobody has copied her style since 1984," says PETA about the singer who has started dating the much younger Jesus Luz. "We know that she's on the prowl for a young cub, but someone needs to tell Madge that wearing fur doesn't make you a cougar."

 

Madge isn't the only one targeted by the animal rights group. They're also focusing on former child stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: "Because fur adds 20 years and 20 pounds, maybe Mary-Kate and Ashley think their matronly wardrobe will deflect the gossip about bulimia. Somewhere, someone is missing a matching pair of Bigfoot bobblehead dolls."

The men aren't ignored either. Kanye West "rants about not winning Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, but what he really deserves is a 'lifetime bereavement award' for all the corpses in his closet. Kanye, we love the quirky suits, but you can't claim to be 'the voice of this generation' while flaunting fur, which is old-school and cruel."

Others on the fur-wearing hit list are "Dark Knight" star Maggie Gyllenhaal, Elizabeth Hurley, Mary J. Blige, Kate Moss and husband and wife team Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore.

{babes} Chris Brown: Two felony charges in Rihanna beating

Despite Chris Brown and Rihanna's reconciliation, the case against the "With You" singer is proceeding.

The 19-year-old Brown has been charged with two felonies -- assault and making criminal threats -- for allegedly beating his girlfriend Rihanna in February, according to the LA Times.

If convicted, he could face up to four years and eight months in prison.

 

The charges stem from a Feb. 8 altercation in which Brown allegedly punched and blooded Rihanna after he became upset about a text message she read aloud. Brown turned himself into police and was booked.

Brown will be arraigned Thursday, March 5 at 3:30 p.m. He's expected to enter a plea deal in person.

{babes} Bachelor's Melissa Suspected Molly Was the Other Woman

Melissa Rycroft's shocking dismissal by fiancé Jason Mesnick on national television was a surprise to Bachelor fans — but not to Rycroft herself.

"I knew on the night After the Final Rose I wasn't getting dumped," she tells Ellen DeGeneres in an interview scheduled to air on her talk show Thursday. "We had already ended the relationship. And that was mutual."

But there was one major surprise in store for Rycroft: the other woman, runner-up Molly Malaney.

Once the cameras stopped rolling, Rycroft and Mesnick sat down and talked about how their relationship had changed after the finale. "When we brought up how difficult [the relationship] was, he kind of gave up and I couldn't understand why at the time," says Rycroft.

"I repeatedly asked him, 'is Molly involved in anything?'" she says. "And when they moved up the taping of "After the Final Rose" … I asked Jason, 'Am I going to be blindsided by anything? Is there anything you want to tell me?'

"And he said, "No, gosh no,'" Rycroft tells DeGeneres. "And the second I went out on that stage he goes, 'P.S. it is Molly.'"

Feeling Betrayed
Though Rycroft didn't know for sure if Mesnick was also seeing Molly during their relationship, Rycroft says she had a suspicion. "Anybody that's been cheated on, you know, and being a woman I got that feeling because he just backed away from me and I knew he had contacted her," she says. "I know there had been at least one contact … where he was 'checking on her' and so it was just in the back of my mind."

His answer?

"He kept saying 'no,'" she says, adding that the feelings of betrayal are worse than the breakup itself.

"I understand it was a breakup and I'm not mad about that," she says. "We all get broken up with but to be lied to [is worse]."

Dating Is the Best Revenge
But there's good news for the jilted reality television star — she's in a new, supportive relationship: She's dating a man named Ty.

"Now that everything is over I'm so excited," Rycroft says. I've known him for two years and kind of done the dating on and off. He has been by biggest rock and supporter throughout this whole process. He's become my best friend."

It was a mission for which Hank Baskett was prepared to go undercover – to find an engagement ring for Kendra Wilkinson and not to tip her off about his impending proposal.

"I had to be sneaky about it because Kendra's a little inspector, always picking up clues," the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, who will wed the Girls Next Door star on June 27 at the Playboy Mansion, tells Celebuzz.com.

After choosing Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers in New Jersey to design the ring, Baskett says he stopped by the store every day to select a concept for the sparkler.

And while Wilkinson, 23, had no clue what was headed her way – "I didn't even know he was proposing," she says – she somehow managed to ring up Baskett whenever he was in the store.

"Kendra would just happen to call me then," Baskett recalls. "Every time. I would be like, I'm getting my computer worked on, I'm at the shoe store. I made something up."

When Baskett brought home the finished product – a 2¼-carat princess-cut diamond mounted with 60 diamonds on 18-carat white gold – he stored it in his safe and was obsessed with keeping it spotless.

"I'd look at it every day before practice, then I'd clean it. I'd come home from practice and still clean it. No one else touched it, but I still cleaned it."

NEW YORK – Things just keep getting better for Taylor Swift: Besides having the No. 1 album in the country, she's been nominated for album of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Swift joins George Strait, Jamey Johnson, Carrie Underwood and Montgomery Gentry as the nominees for top album at the ACM Awards. Most of the nominees were announced last month, but on Thursday, the academy announced another batch of nominees.

Swift was nominated for "Fearless"; the 19-year-old's sophomore album has helped her move from a country sensation to pop's newest superstar.

Swift will perform at the ACM Awards along with Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, Heidi Newfield and Tim McGraw.

The April 5 awards will be held in Las Vegas and aired live on CBS.

Newly married Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault were the star attraction Thursday morning at the height of Paris's Fashion Week.

Making their first public appearance together since their Valentine's Day wedding, the actress and her billionaire-businessman husband arrived at the five-star Hotel Crillon for the Balenciaga show.

Not only does Pinault own the design house, but the couple re-ignited their on-and-off relationship at last September's Balenciaga show. In addition, Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere is one of Hayek's favorites.

As the couple arrived at the hotel, press photographers – who had been shut out of their secret wedding – shouted out in a chorus of, "Congratulations on your wedding!" Replied a smiling Hayek: "Thank you very much."

"She was kind of amused by that," one of the participants told PEOPLE, adding about the bride and groom, "They seemed very content."

After the Balenciaga show, the Pinaults headed back to their Left Bank Paris apartment – trailed by no less than about a dozen paparazzi.

{babes} Report: Chris Brown Punched Rihanna, Threatened to Kill Her

A detective's notes from the scene of the alleged Rihanna assault reportedly reveal disturbing details about what happened between the singer and her boyfriend Chris Brown in the early hours of Feb. 8.

According to FOX 11 in Los Angeles, which claims to have obtained the notes from a search warrant in the case, Rihanna, 21, read a lengthy text message from a woman on Brown's phone, which led to an argument. Brown – who has a standing court date Thursday – allegedly tried to force his girlfriend out of the Lamborghini, and hit her head against the passenger window.

Brown, 19, then punched the singer while still driving, according to the detective's notes, and blood filled Rihanna's mouth. He allegedly told her, "I'm going to beat the ---- out of you when we get home." Rihanna called her assistant and left a message saying, "I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there." The police notes say that prompted Brown to reply: "You just did the stupidest thing ever. I'm going to kill you."

The report also says that Brown bit Rihanna and put her in a headlock, and that she almost lost consciousness.

Almost three weeks after the incident, the couple reunited in Miami Beach last week.

Contacted by PEOPLE, LAPD spokeswoman April Harding said, "We cannot confirm" the detective notes.

{babes} New Bachelorette Jillian Harris Was Producer's Third Choice

Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss says he approached both Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney to be the next Bachelorette before Jillian Harris, the third-place finisher on the Bachelor, was finally given the honor.

When Mesnick proposed to Rycroft three months ago, Fleiss began courting Malaney, he said Wednesday.

"I said, 'Oh, well, I think Molly's fantastically telegenic and sweet; she'd make a great Bachelorette,'" he said. "I was on the phone with her for maybe two-and-a-half weeks trying to talk her into doing that."

He went so far as to let her abandon her confidentiality agreement about what happened on The Bachelor so she could tell friends and family that she was thinking about becoming the Bachelorette.

"And so she talked to them and they were all supportive of it, at least her friends were, I know that — and she was just starting to come around to the idea of being the new Bachelorette when this thing happened with Jason," Fleiss said.

What happened with Mesnick, of course, is that he dumped Rycroft and began dating Malaney instead. At this point, Fleiss began pursuing Rycroft, but she wanted to leave her reality days behind.

In a statement Wednesday, Rycroft said she's happy as a bachelorette with a little b.

"I'm back in Dallas, pursuing the teaching thing, and attempting to get my life back to normal (if it was ever really normal to begin with)," she wrote. "I don't regret anything that happened over the past few months; because I know I wouldn't be where I am today had none of it happened. I have, however, decided to move on from my reality television days, and get some sense of normalcy back to my life."

{babes} Playboy babe may join 'Dancing with the Stars'

The new season of "Dancing with the Stars" doesn't start for another few days, but rumors are circulating that one celebrity hoofer may already be out -- and a former "Girl Next Door" may be taking her place.

Us magazine reports that Holly Madison, the Playboy Playmate, ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner and star of E!'s "The Girls Next Door," is set to join the ABC dance competition, which begins a new season on Monday (March 9). The network isn't commenting.

Madison would most likely take the place of singer-songwriter Jewel, who wrote on her blog last week that she's been slowed by tendonitis in her knees -- a result of rehearsing for the show with partner Dmitry Chaplin. Jewel's husband, rodeo cowboy Ty Murray, is also a contestant this season.

 

Along with fellow Hef girlfriends Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, the 30-year-old Madison starred in "The Girls Next Door" from 2005 until last month. The three women have all moved out of the Playboy Mansion and gone their separate ways; Hef has reloaded with a new set of girlfriends and will keep filming the show.

A number of "Dancing with the Stars" participants -- both celebs and their pro partners -- have been injured during the show's run. Most have been minor (sprained ankles are pretty common), although Olympian Misty May-Treanor had to withdraw last year after tearing her Achilles tendon last fall.

{babes} Jonas Bros Losing Streak Continues: Guys Can't Top Taylor

First Madea. Now Taylor Swift.

Days after seeing their much-hyped concert flick underwhelm at the box office, the Jonas Brothers had the added indignation of having the film's companion album, Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience, fail to sell enough to unseat Joe Jonas' old flame on the charts.

Swift's Fearless moved 73,000 copies for the week ended Sunday to remain at No. 1. The Jonas boys sold 50,000 of their new concert disc to finish at No. 3, per Nielsen SoundScan.

Breaking up might be hard to do, but getting your butt thumped by your ex-girlfriend is even worse. And it probably doesn't help that Swift actually appears on the soundtrack with the appropriately titled "Should've Said No."

Sandwiched in between the ex-couple is Wrath, the new album by Virginia metalheads Lamb of God. The album sold 68,000, a new career-high.

The Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, meanwhile, finally got the full jolt from its eight Oscar wins. The album jumped another 14 spots to No. 4 selling 44,000 copies. Just two weeks ago, the album sat at No. 48.

Other notable debuts included Jake Owen's Easy Does It at No. 13, Chris Isaak's Mr. Lucky at No. 29 and Somalia-born rapper K'naan at No. 32 with Troubadour.

If she can hold the top spot for one more week, Swift will match Santana's epic 12-week run with Supernatural from a decade ago. That feat isn't like to happen soon, however, since U2's No Line on the Horizon is considered a lock for No. 1 on next week's chart.

Total sales are down 7 percent from last week and down 13 percent compared to the same week last year.

The apartment complex on The CW's remake of Melrose Place is starting to get new residents.

First up? Actress Katie Cassidy, who is also a cast member on CBS's buzzed-about upcoming murder mystery series, Harper's Island. The two project's won't conflict because Harper's will have a new cast next season if the series is renewed.

Cassidy, 22, who is the daughter of The Partridge Family's David Cassidy, will play a sexy, sassy up-and-coming publicist on the remake.

And rumor has it that Mischa Barton has also auditioned for a role on the series' pilot, but her rep says there's no official news to share at this time.

Supermodel Niki Taylor and her husband, NASCAR driver Burney Lamar, welcomed their new daughter into the world – the day before Niki's birthday.

What a present! Born on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Nashville (near the couple's home in Brentwood, Tenn.), Ciel Taylor Lamar weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz.

"Everyone is doing amazing," says Lou Taylor, Niki's long-time manager, who is no relation to the supermodel. Taylor, 33, is already mom to 14-year-old twins Hunter and Jake.

She shared her struggle to get pregnant again in an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year. "I am so happy and ready," Taylor said after successfully conceiving again. "I am in such a wonderful place in my life that I can really enjoy it all."

{babes} Belinda Carlisle Reveals Her Dancing Problem - Spinning

It was only after Belinda Carlisle had accepted a spot on Dancing with the Stars that she realized she might have a problem with a crucial dance step–the spin.

"Spinning," says Carlisle, 50, the oldest female contestant of the group. "I can't even look at a merry-go-round without getting dizzy."

Despite that little hitch, the former lead singer of the '80s band The Go-Go's says she is ready to give ballroom dance a whirl even though "I've never done anything so strenuous."

She rehearses with partner Jonathan Roberts five hours a day, six days a week. And while many past contestants have been known to lose weight during the course of the show, Carlisle, who is this year's face of NutriSystem, says she's not looking to lose drop any pounds off her petite frame.

"I'm eating like a pig," she laughs. "I've already lost two pounds."

And though she'll have to wait till next Monday (8 p.m. EST on ABC) to go toe to toe against the other celebrity contestants, she has met one competitor, Jackass star Steve-O, who asked to use the Go-Go's hit, "We've Got the Beat."

"I was thinking, 'What dance are you going to do to that?'" says Carlisle, "Given it's Steve-O, it can be anything."

Lindsay Lohan will take any opportunity she can to dress up like an icon, so she probably jumped when Glamour offered her the chance to play Madonna for their American Icons: 7 Decades of Rule Breakers, Risk Takers and Style Makers photo shoot.

It was probably a little disappointing for LiLo when they wouldn't let her be the Sex era Madonna—the only thing Lindsay loves more than a good ol' homage is posing naked. But she gave "Like a Virgin" Madonna her all, and it definitely turned out better than Emma Stone's Carrie Bradshaw, Camilla Belle's Mary Tyler Moore and Emma Robert's Audrey Hepburn.

Fox canceled Prison Break a few weeks back, but as we speak, producers are casting and shooting two additional hours of the show.

What does that mean?

Are they finally creating that women's prison spin-off?

Is evil (but hot) Company babe Gretchen getting a spin-off?

Here's what we're hearing...

Despite what many of you fans have emailed, Fox is not cooking up a show around Gretchen, nor is it working on a ladies-behind-bars spin-off. The Prison Break creative team is finally making that much-discussed two-hour wrap-up film.

The two bonus eps are titled "The Old Ball and Chain" and "Free," and they take place a couple of days after the events of the season finale. {babes} Chris Brown Evidence Includes Rihanna's Blood-Stained Gown

The cops apparently left no stone unturned while investigating Chris Brown.

E! News has learned exclusively that, among the evidence turned over to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for its probe into the singer's alleged attack on Rihanna, is a blood-stained Gucci gown identified as the one Rihanna was wearing when they fought on the morning of Feb. 8.

"The police took Rihanna's dress into evidence because it had blood stains on it," says a source close to the investigation. An LAPD spokesman tells E! News, "We don't comment on domestic violence case."

The $11,000, flowing strapless gown was provided to Rihanna by Gucci, whom she has a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with, for Clive Davis' annual Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton, where she and Brown were spotted looking cozy the evening of their altercation.

E! News also has learned that, just hours after the alleged attack, the LAPD filed an emergency protective order—at Rihanna's request—barring Brown from having contact with the "Umbrella" songbird. The order expired five days later, according to sources.

"It is standard practice for the cops to ask the domestic violence victim at the scene of the attack whether they would like an emergency protective order keeping the attacker away," Santa Monica-based criminal defense attorney Alec Rose tells E!

"If the victim requests it, the EPO is issued and is good for five days. After that time period the victim would have to notify the district attorney's office if they would like the order extended."

{babes} Taylor Swift, "CSI" Cast Have Love Fest

March 4, 2009 — Taylor Swift makes her TV acting debut in Thursday's episode of the CBS drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and things apparently went very well on the set in Hollywood. Taylor seemed to love the cast, and they apparently had high regard for her, too.

"You know, you're always gonna kind of worry when you're doing the first thing — your first stab at acting and stuff like that," she told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "But I had a great director and great cast, and they were all helping me out, and it was really, really fun. I loved it."

Taylor portrays the daughter of two motel owners in the episode, titled "Turn Turn Turn," and goes through several visual transformations as the plot progresses. And apparently she's not just a musician; George Eads, who stars in the series, felt she was a natural as an actor.

"I think people will be pleased with what she does," he told AOL TV. "She's very talented, you know. You can't teach what Taylor Swift has. Her subtlety and the way she portrayed this, I think, was really cool."

Taylor won't be in the U.S. when the episode airs. She's kicking off her first Australian tour the same night.

{babes} Neko Case looks to nature for `Middle Cyclone'

NEW YORK – Neko Case has four dogs and two cats, but that only hints at the affinity she feels for animals and nature.

On her sixth studio album, "Middle Cyclone," Case sings of tornadoes, killer whales, vultures and elephants. The album finishes with a half-hour of looped nature sounds. One of the disc's most powerful tunes is titled "I'm an Animal."

In a recent interview, Case explained her wild songwriting instincts.

"I like to make sure (animals) are there, too," says the singer-songwriter. "It's kind of to me the equal to, say, writing only about women and not men. It's like writing about living things and nonliving things. I kind of want it all because I grew up with lots of animals and I related more to them than I did to people. I feel a lot of empathy for them."

The 38-year-old, Virginia-born Case moved around a lot when she was younger and left home when she was 15. She eventually worked her way into the music scene in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she eventually fell in with Carl Newman.

Newman leads the New Pornographers, the band that gives Case her rock 'n roll dimension. Though Case generally focuses on her own material, she always sings on New Pornographer records and frequently tours with them. (Newman has his own solo album — "Get Guilty" — out now.)

While the Pornographers have raised her profile, Case's solo career has grown in tandem. Her acclaimed last album, 2006's "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood," was her best-seller to date, moving 200,000 copies.

Though frequently labeled as alt-country or Americana, Case generally eludes categorization. She is widely admired for her powerful, full voice that — on songs like her impassioned "Star Witness" — can sound like siren and Greek chorus rolled into one.

"I just want to make stories," she says. "They don't have to have a moral or a reason. There might be some mild cautionary notes, but they're not moral. They don't impart any Judeo-Christian ethic of any kind."

Perhaps reflective of her nomadic roots, Case recorded "Middle Cyclone" all over the map: Tucson, Ariz., Vermont, Brooklyn, N.Y., Chicago, Toronto and in rural Ontario. She currently lives in Tucson, but is preparing to move to Vermont.

Few could miss the storm theme to "Middle Cyclone," but Case doesn't view it as reflective of any tumultuousness in her. She says the lead track, "This Tornado Loves You," isn't any kind of metaphor, but rather a simple idea from a dream.

"I was just fascinated by the dream and what it was," says Case. "The mystery is kind of exciting. I don't really want the answer. I just like the excitement of the idea."

Her other big influence, at least of late, has been Russian and Eastern European folk tales. Though she's of Ukrainian heritage, Case says she stumbled across them just because she "likes to read."

"I think maybe Christians didn't have as good a sense of humor as ancient Russians did," says Case.

Asked what the Russians had right, Case replies: "That death is funny. And that humans are animals. They have that right. The Bible tries to make humans not animals the whole time. I think it's a bit of a mistake."

{babes} No Doubt offers up back catalogue

No Doubt won't have a new album to give fans before their upcoming reunion tour -- but they're making up for it by giving some ticket buyers all their old music for free.

Fans who buy top-tier tickets online will receive a free download of the band's entire catalog, it was announced yesterday.

"Since the band is heading back to the road, we wanted to find a cool way to get people listening to our music and stoke them with a great deal at the same time," guitarist Tom Dumont said in a press release. "With this download its easy for fans to get psyched up to hear our music live once again and that rocks."

The deal, which applies to tickets that cost more than $42.50 before applicable fees, includes more than 80 songs from the band's five studio albums -- No Doubt (1992), The Beacon Street Collection (1995), Tragic Kingdom (1995), Return Of Saturn (2000) and Rock Steady (2001) -- plus their two compilations, The Singles 1992-2003 and Everything In Time: B-Sides, Rarities, Remixes (both 2003). Also included is one new recording: A cover of Adam and the Ants' Stand and Deliver, which the band will perform on an episode of the May 11 episode of the CW series Gossip Girl.

The foursome -- who are reportedly still working on the long-awaited followup to Rock Steady -- kick off their 2009 Summer Tour in Atlantic City on May 2. Canadian stops include Toronto (June 16, Air Canada Centre), Montreal (June 17, Bell Centre), Winnipeg (July 13, MTS Centre), Calgary (July 15, Pengrowth Saddledome), Edmonton (July 16, Rexall Place) and Vancouver (July 18, GM Place). Paramore will open the tour, though The Sounds, Janelle Monae and Bedouin Soundclash will also play some dates.

Since the group's last studio album, Stefani has released two solo discs -- 2004's hit Love.Angel.Music.Baby, and the less-acclaimed 2006 followup The Sweet Escape -- and toured as a solo artist. No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal collaborated on her solo work, while guitarist Tom Dumont formed the band Invincible Overload and drummer Adrian Young played with several artists, including Scott Weiland. During her time away from No Doubt, Stefani also started clothing and fragrance lines, married former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and gave birth to two sons: Kingston, born in May 2006, and Zuma, born last August.

Tickets go on sale to the general public this Saturday, March 7. Download codes for the songs will be e-mailed to buyers approximately 30 days before the concert, and will be good until 30 days after the tour ends.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Elizabeth Taylor has expanded her philanthropy with a US$100,000 donation to the Alliance for Christian Education.

The 77-year-old Oscar-winning actress says she was inspired by President Barack Obama's call for Americans to "reach across the aisle" of political and ideological divide.

For decades, Taylor's philanthropy has focused on HIV/AIDS.

In a statement, Taylor - who is Jewish - says she chose to underwrite the Christian-initiated education effort "because our new president challenged us to break down barriers that divide us."

The donation to the Santa Barbara, Calif.-based organization will help fund the alliance's pilot program for global outreach and the Providence Hall Christian high school.

Jennifer Aniston has vowed to quit Hollywood to escape the glare of the media spotlight.

The former Friends star, who is dating musician John Mayer, is hounded by the paparazzi eager to get a snap of Aniston on a daily basis.

But the actress is sick of the constant attention, and is planning to leave Los Angeles one day, to live "somewhere remote" where "nobody really cares".

And Aniston is considering taking a sabattical from acting as she ponders her future.

She tells Britain's Elle magazine, "I don't have a game plan. I don't think that in five years' time I need to be doing this or that. You set yourself up for disappointment that way. It seems unnecessary torture.

"I can see myself taking a few years off, living somewhere remote. I would miss acting.

"But... eventually, I'm not going to be living in L.A. full-time. Eventually I'm going to move somewhere nobody really cares. Just go off and be alone."

Then just yesterday, Meg and Brian hit up Indigo furniture store in the Valley before they headed back to his house together.

Megan's rep had no comment on the supposed split, but now we're wondering: Did they ever broke up in the first place?

Spotted: Georgina Sparks talking to Chuck Bass!

Michelle Trachtenberg, who plays the deliciously evil Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, is returning to the show beginning April 27 for the final four episodes of season 2.

This photo, shot on Feb. 24 with Ed Westwick (who plays bad boy Chuck Bass), was taken on location on New York's Staten Island.

No word on what exactly this duo are up to, but we bet Georgina has something up her designer sleeve. When we last saw her, she had been shipped off to reform school after drugging and blackmailing her former best friend Serena and trying to steal her boyfriend Dan.

And executive producer Stephanie Savage offered a clue, telling PEOPLE during the show's summer hiatus, "I don't think there's any boot camp in Idaho or anywhere else that will hold Georgina Sparks for long … I don't think she was very happy with Blair. They have some unfinished business."

And now she's with troublemaker Chuck! The Upper East Side's Queen B better watch out.

Had fate worked differently for Gloria Estefan, today the Cuban singer would be working as a spy. Thanks to her ability with languages, when she was younger the CIA asked her to work for them, reports People En Español.

"They realized that I was someone who could pass as a regular person without raising any eyebrow. So the CIA approached me and wanted me to train in their Atlanta headquarters," the singer, 52, said on the Telemundo Al rojo vivo with MarÍa Celeste Arrarás show.

The offer came when Estefan worked as an interpreter at the Miami International Airport Customs Department. Besides Spanish and English, the singer is fluent in French.

But it was her mother who convinced Estefan not even to entertain the idea, because she had suffered enough seeing her husband work as a bodyguard for Cuban dictator-president Fulgencio Batista, which led to his imprisonment at the Bay of Pigs invasion.

At Reese Witherspoon's low point after her very public divorce from Ryan Phillippe, the actress found some efforts to console her far from helpful.

"When people get in your face and say, 'This will pass,' you think: Are they crazy?" Witherspooon, 32, tells the April issue of Elle. "I'm never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing's ever gonna make sense again. And I still have moments where I'm like, 'Nothing's ever gonna make sense again.' "

But while she calls the split in 2006 "very humiliating and very isolating," Witherspoon came to realize, "If it's not painful, maybe it wasn't the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions."

Blame Game

So, she says, is falling into the "blame game."

"Blame, blame, blame," she says. "You know? And it's a really easy thing to do, and I'm certainly guilty of it. [You have to] look at yourself and go: 'What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility?' And that's the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real-life knowledge out of it."

But the experience hasn't left her sour on love: Witherspooon, who has two children with Phillippe, 34, is now in a relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 28. " He's fabulous," she says. "He really is a fantastic guy."

Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay was hospitalized with chest pains Tuesday night, according to reports.

Reps for the actress and the NBC TV show have not returned PEOPLE.com's requests for comment on the news, first reported by TMZ.com.

The Law & Order: SVU star was hospitalized and underwent surgery for a partially collapsed lung in early January, but returned to work later that month.

Hargitay has not revealed the cause of her condition.

The event, which is part of The Soap Nation Tour, will be held on Tuesday, March 10 from 9-11am and 11-1pm on the set of ABC's "The View," at 320 West 66th street. There will be a minimum $10.00 cash preferred donation per person, with all proceeds will benefit BC/EFA. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as autographs are limited. Actors' headshots will be provided.

Tickets will be provided per series and per timeslot. At check-in participants will be asked to choose which series and which timeslot they'd like to attend. They will then be given a ticket to get autographs from the stars scheduled in that session. Ticket holders for the 11am show may leave and return by 10:15am. Doors open at 8am. There are a limited number of tickets per show, so we ask fans to arrive early.

Talent confirmed to participate from 9am-11am: Melissa Claire Egan, Ricky Paull Goldin and Vincent Irizarry from "All My Children"; John-Paul Lavoisier, Erika Slezak and Trevor St. John from "One Life to Live"; and Bradford Anderson, Brandon Barash and Tony Geary from "General Hospital." From 11am-1pm: Thorsten Kaye, Cameron Mathison, Aiden Turner and Darnell Williams from "All My Children"; and Kristen Alderson, Bree Williamson and Kassie De Paiva from "One Life to Life." *Talent times and participation are subject to change.

Tickets are still available for the Monday, March 9th benefit performance at Town Hall in New York City, which is headlined by Susan Lucci and hosted by Cameron Mathison. Tickets can be purchased online at www.broadwaycares.org.

{babes} France's Carla Bruni wants child, might adopt

PARIS (Reuters) – France's first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy says she would like to have a baby and if that does not work out she would be happy to adopt one.

The comments, made in an interview with the magazine Madame Figaro released to media on Wednesday, come just over a year after the supermodel-turned-popstar married President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Asked whether she wanted a baby, 41-year-old Bruni-Sarkozy said: "I would like that, but I don't know if it will be possible at my age.

"If it's not possible biologically, I will adopt one. I'm not obsessed by blood ties. I think you can form strong bonds without that," she said.

Bruni-Sarkozy has a 7-year-old son from a previous relationship while her husband, who is 54, has three children from his two previous marriages.

There has been intense speculation in the celebrity press about whether the Sarkozy couple planned to try for a child.

"I would love to have a child but I'm not going to fight against nature. I already have one and my husband has three, so you can't really say we are desperate for children," she said.

The pair met in November 2007, just weeks after Sarkozy divorced from his second wife Cecilia, and tied the knot less than three months later.

Their whirlwind romance captured the public imagination in France and abroad, generating dozens of glossy magazine covers, but many criticized Sarkozy for putting his private life first at a time when the country was facing economic difficulties.

Turning to a vein of commentary that has run through French media coverage of their relationship, Bruni-Sarkozy said it was not true she had more highbrow cultural tastes than her husband.

"There is this stereotype about the right in general and my husband in particular: that they lack culture," she said.

"One day I read an article saying that my husband never read a book. The man who wrote the article must live with us since he knows that my husband never reads! The truth is that my husband spends all his free time reading."

The bookworm Sarkozy was currently reading works by the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, the 19th century novelist Alexandre Dumas and the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, the first lady said.

{babes} Britney Spears puts on "Circus" for comeback tour

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) – Britney Spears kicked off her first tour in five years on Tuesday, promoting her latest hit album "Circus" before an adoring hometown audience with jugglers, acrobats, rings of flame and lip syncing.

"Britney's my girl. I knew she'd be great," said Chris Peterson, 28, who drove to New Orleans from Pensacola, Florida, for the concert. "I've been a fan since I was 14."

The pop star, attempting a comeback after a high-profile meltdown, pulled out all the stops before a sell-out crowd of 16,400 to launch her much-anticipated world tour.

Spears, 27, became a worldwide phenomenon when she burst onto the music scene 10 years ago after breaking into show business on the "Mickey Mouse Club" television show.

But she has done only a handful of live concerts in recent years as her personal life careered out of control, including stints in psychiatric care, an ugly divorce, losing custody of her two sons, shaving her head and partying without panties.

Back on stage, Spears looked fit and dazzling dressed as a ringmaster as she performed more than a dozen songs in a parade of skimpy costumes.

The launch of her 44-concert tour, which heads to Britain in June, was heavy on spectacle and was met with wild applause and cheers.

The circus-themed production featured Spears strutting and gyrating through extravagant sets on three stages, surrounded by dancers, martial artists and performers who dropped from the rafters on fabric streamers and mechanical rings.

Launching her tour in New Orleans gave Spears the chance to mount her comeback near her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.

She seems to have pulled herself together in the past year, with support from her father Jamie, who took control of her affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship after the singer's bizarre public behavior.

Spears has also focused on her family, spending more time with her children and insisting that her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, be allowed to accompany her on tour.

Her return to the concert circuit and sales of her album appear to be a measure of her ability to still attract the attention she once garnered from fans around the world.

"Circus," her sixth studio album, debuted at No. 1 in the United States and five other countries when it was released in December and won her three MTV Video Music Awards.

But some fans at the New Orleans show were disappointed that she remained distant from her loyal supporters.

"I hoped she would talk directly to the audience, especially since this is her home, but she didn't say anything," said Kelly Dupont, who lives in nearby Baton Rouge.

New Orleans resident Stephanie Chandler, who saw a live performance by Spears eight years ago, was harsher.

"I was very disappointed. She's just not in it," Chandler said. "If you're going to lip sync, then you'd better bring on the dancing, but she didn't."
